TEACHING ASSISTANT

JOB TITLE

Teaching Assistant (Primary School – Ages 5–10)

 

SUMMARY

We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to support children aged 5–10 in primary school settings. This role involves working closely with class teachers to support learning activities, assist pupils in the classroom, and help create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

We are looking for individuals who are confident, reliable, and able to communicate effectively with children and staff in a busy school environment. A genuine interest in supporting children’s education and development is essential.

Experience in education, childcare, tutoring, youth work, or Special Educational Needs (SEND) is highly desirable. However, we also welcome candidates with strong transferable skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Full training and support will be provided.

 

SKILLS NEEDED

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Confidence working with children aged 5–10

Ability to engage and support learning in a classroom environment

Patience and ability to build positive relationships with pupils

Reliability and punctuality

Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

Adaptability in a fast-paced school environment

Awareness of behaviour management strategies (desirable)

Experience in education, childcare, tutoring, youth work, or SEND support (desirable)

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Formal qualifications are not essential for this role.

However, the following qualifications and training are desirable:

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (RQF)

Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning (RQF)

NCFE/CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

Autism Awareness Training

Special Educational Needs (SEND) Training (Advanced)

Safeguarding Children (Level 1 or Level 2)

Applicants with relevant experience but no formal qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
